What is this?

Think of this as a way for me to be The Narrator of my own Internet Play.

I believe in the power of longform works that are worth more than the individual pieces of which they are made. I like to make records, not songs. But making records takes time, and we should talk more often.

Every Friday I’ll be sending you Three Things I’m Grateful For, a few recommendations of music/movies/life-things that make me feel good about the world. Most of these will start with some sort of reflection…but not always.

When I have music coming out, I’ll write some longer-form stories and essays about the songs, what inspired them, how they came about, etc.

There’s also a big backlog of things i’ve been sporadically sharing on here over the years. The Music section is for sharing, well, my music. The essay section is for…essays. Some about life (in general), some about music (other peoples’), some about my travels and tribulations.

I don’t really do the whole Notes thing (as of this writing). It feels like how Substack is going to eventually ruin itself. But we shall see.

How often will this hit my inbox?

Every Friday. In rare but important circumstances (like me releasing an album, per se) you’ll get a two-fer week. But that won’t happen much. I want this to feel regular, but not overwhelming in your inbox. Something you look forward to tucking into once a week!

Where can you hear my music?

Anywhere you stream music!

And, sure, you can follow me on Instagram for photos of my stupid face. But the point is Instagram is a terrible way for us to talk…so hang around on here more often!

Does this cost money?

Nope. For now, I simply want to share and bring people into the fold. Later, I might put a small paywall up for the stuff that feels really scary to share (e.g. songs in progress, home demos, etc.) — but this is not a money-making venture, and I only ever want you to contribute whatever it is you feel like contributing.
